Secrets of Restaurants Salads that Simply Destroy your Diet:

March 05, 2010 By: Heiley G. Category: Diet Secrets, Weight watcher`s lifestyle

If you’re trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle, or happened to be on a diet, and you are about to dine out at your favorite restaurant, don’t automatically turn to the salad menu! Turns out, restaurant salads can often be as bad as—or worse than—any other fatty dish on the menu! Sure, salads may contain some fresh & healthy produce base, but those leafy greens are normally weighed down with cheese, deep fried croutons, and high-calorie dressings. In fact, one salad from a popular chain restaurant may contains over 1,500 calories and too much fut!

These are some manue secrets you need to know:

  • Anytime you see the words “Parmesans-Crusted,” or “Orange Glazed” assume the dish has been slathered in sugar or cheese, had given a frying treatment and probably contain nearly a full day’s worth of sodium and half a day’s worth of calories!

  • In Mexican restaurants, salads are mostly the absolute worst choice from the menu. For example, with burritos and tacos, the amount of high-fat, high-calorie fillers is limited to what will fit in the shells! pay attention!

  • The top word you should be careful about is the mighty Caesar. Regular restaraunt`s Caesar dressing is normally loaded with many grams of fat and is very high in calories, combine it with cheese and croutons and you turn your light, healthy salad to a complete diet disaster! always ask for a low fat or fat-free dressing!

Good Luck!

Dinning Out Diet Secret:

February 11, 2010 By: Heiley G. Category: Diet Secrets, Weight watcher`s lifestyle

My worst enemy while dieting or weight watching is dinning out in wonderful restaurants where some great dishes are simply irresistible! You see, ever since I started dating my current spouse I found it harder to watch what I eat, especially because he loves taking me to those nicest food places, where you kinda feel like you missed something if you order your very ordinary Caesar salad! For me, a person who appreciates great food, it always feels like a battle!  A short consultation with my nutritionist had made me realized the fact I don’t have to feel bad about having a great quality restaurant dinner, as long as I eat right and less during the day! That`s the secret! What a blast!!!

Holiday Season- Dieting On-The-Go:

December 21, 2009 By: Heiley G. Category: Diet Secrets, Weight watcher`s lifestyle

Many of us travel and fly during a holiday season therefore finding yourself at the airport at that time of the year is very common. You must agree this might make it a bit hard watching your weight and eating your regular, everyday weight watcher diet food especially when there are fewer choices on board! However, on-the-go eating doesn’t have to result in extra ponds! I have checked around for the best meal options available to choose from while spending long layovers at the airport, and these were my favorite ones as far as taste, saving on calories and not ruin your diet!!! How said I can’t make a smart choice whenever I want too?!?

For Breakfast:

STARBUCKS Perfect OATMEAL- plenty of energy and only 140 Calories and 3 grams of fat!!!

For Lunch:

McDonald’s Hamburger. (Yes, I know… Hamburger!!!)- With 250 Calories and 9 grams of fat you can add a side of salad with low-fat balsamic vinaigrette which adds 60 calories and 3 grams of fat to your meal however makes it DELICIOUS!

For Dinner:

PIZZA HUT EXPRESS: !/2 Personal Pan Cheese Pizza will provide you with 295 Calories and 12 grams of fat. Again, it is not a lot of food, and not the healthiest or most nutritious one, however, since we`r trying to keep it low on-the-g0, that is not so bad of choice!

When it comes to maintain a healthy Light & Fit lifestyle, everyone can use some inspiration. I couldn’t believe how my boyfriend became addicted to this delicious, yet simple dish, after grabbing my spoon a few weeks ago and just had to try my ”hunger attack” solution. I call it- the “bowl of love” since not only it is healthy and low-calories but I am actually enjoying it, plus- my boyfriend keeps asking me to make him a bowl as well every time he sees me pulling the Yogurt Jar from the fridge- which inspires me the most!
Light_fit_nonfat_yogurtI use Light&Fit Dannon Nonfat Vanilla Yogurt which is my favorite choice since its nutrition facts and its flavor. I normally buy the 32 OZ jar since it has basic vanilla flavor and is good for several servings. My secret to control any hunger attack AND to get my boyfriend`s attention was adding some crunchy, rice and wheat flakes with oat and blueberry clusters from “Special K”, plus bunch of fresh blueberries, if available, to the bowl of yogurt.

Fresh Figs- Delightful Choice:

August 24, 2009 By: Heiley G. Category: Health Benefits, Healthy Recipes, Weight watcher`s lifestyle

Fresh figs are well known for their high fiber, calcium, potassium and iron more then most other common fruits. Unfortunately they only have a short window of availability, during mid- to late summer and are incredibly delicate as well, with a shelf life of three days or less. Figs are not only healthy and contain disease-fighting antioxidants, but versatile in recipes. Even though they are nearly perfect eaten out of hand, fresh figs make delightful addition to salads, pan sauces, meat and desserts.
